HashtagCon: TCG
The Exchange
Fees & payouts

How fees & payouts work.

The Exchange is where collectors reserve, buy, and trade real cards from real vendors before the show opens. Money only moves once both sides agree, and every fee is on the table first. Buyers always see their total. Vendors always see their net to the cent. Here is the exact math on all three ways to deal.

Shown up front

The buyer's total and the vendor's net both appear before either side confirms. Nothing is taken after the fact.

Valued at live market

Every card is priced against live market data and labeled honestly: Priced to Move, Market Value, or Priced at Premium.

Settled at the show

Deals close when the card changes hands in person, so the vendor is paid and the buyer walks away with the card.

Buy now

The collector pays online and picks the card up at the show. It ships to the Hashtag counter and is held until they arrive. HashtagCon takes 10% on the sale, split evenly down the middle: the buyer adds 5% on top of the ask, and 5% comes off the vendor’s side. That is the whole fee. There is nothing else.

Example · $100 card
Vendor’s ask$100.00
Buyer pays (ask + 5%)$105.00
HashtagCon fee (10% total)$10.00
Vendor nets (ask − 5%)$95.00

Vendors who want to clear a round number can tap “price so I keep my ask” when listing, and the Exchange grosses it up automatically. Payouts land in the vendor’s connected account once the buyer collects the card.

Reserve & pick up

The collector puts down a non-refundable 5% deposit to hold the card. That deposit is HashtagCon’s only fee on a reserve, and it covers pulling the card off the floor and setting it aside. The buyer pays the balance in person at the booth on the vendor’s own POS. The deposit comes off the price, so the buyer never pays a cent more than the ask.

Example · $100 card
Buyer deposit (5%, non-refundable)$5.00
Balance at the booth$95.00
Buyer pays in total$100.00
Vendor nets$95.00

Trade

Card for card, with optional cash boot. The fee keys off the higher side’s live market value: 2.5% per side when the cash boot is under 25% of the trade, and 5% per side at or above 25%. Each party covers only their own side, and only once both people accept the deal.

Every number here is shown to both sides before anyone commits. Cards on the floor are valued live at market, so you can see at a glance whether an ask is Priced to Move, at Market Value, or Priced at Premium. That is the whole point of The Exchange: the deal is clear before you make it, and honored in person when you do.
